On the one hand, parish life is the same throughout the Catholic Church worldwide; yet, on the other hand, in a church ministered to by the Dominican Friars, it is usually quite different.
Dominican Preaching is grounded in Sacred Scripture and draws from the wisdom of the teachings and writings of the saints and blesseds, especially Saint Thomas Aquinas, OP. Also, Dominican Preaching is often laced with practical applications while provoking the hearer to personal self- evaluation and change.
The celebration of the Sacraments is done with both dignity and solemnity, especially with regards to the Eucharist. In addition, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is made available often, employing varied confessors.
Additional programs supporting and encouraging the life of the faithful are made available both in oral as well as written form. Basic adult faith formation, as provided through The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), is held throughout the year. To complement these classes, appropriate reading materials (pamphlets) are made available to all of the faithful.
